Here is the song that we made for the Kilkenny County Council sponsored ‘Eco-Friendly’ Song Competition. The challenge was to write a song to encourage Kilkenny people to look after the environment. The pupils worked to come up with rhyming lines based on all the topics they have learnt in recent years whilst working on the Green School Programme. Those topics were Recycling, Energy Saving, Water Conservation and Transport. They were also asked to come up with rhyming lines that mentioned Kilkenny or places in Kilkenny. Fr O Gorman came up with and played the guitar, while the 6th Class played the percussion instruments in the chorus. We recorded the song in June 2014 in Broderick’s music studio. Here are two versions of it recorded that day:

Recycle your waste in Dunmore.
Recycle your cardboard, plastic and glass.

Don’t stay in the shower all day
And just fill the kettle up half way.
Turn off the lights in all the rooms
And don’t use a hoover, use a broom
