The Senior Class is involved in a history project where we want to learn about some of the events that happened in the 1912-1922 decade. We thought a good place to start would be to look at the people who were living in our own area at the time, to look at the differences between their lives and our own.
I am including three pictures of children from Lisnafunchin School at the time. You can click on each photograph to make them larger.Perhaps some of these children and their families are ancestors of yours, and you may be able to find out about their families, and how they were affected by the events of the decade 1912-1922, including WW1, 1916 Rising, War of Independence and foundation of the Irish Free State.
Perhaps you might have at home old photos or artefacts/memorabilia that belonged to family-members at the time, which we could use to help bring the period to life for our pupils. Perhaps you know a story or two about people from our own area at this time, who might have been involved in some of these events. If so, please let us know at school!
